BIMA aims to create a legal, economic, political, social and financial environment that is favourable to the development and growth of the independent music sector.
As an example, BIMA carries out actions such as :
- - Copyright text
- - Quota radio
- - VAT reduction and implementation of a Tax credit for music producers
- - defend the interests of the independents vs the Major companies but at the same time strive for collaboration against mutual challenges.
BIMA works closely with organizations such as IMPALA EUROPE (Lobbying), MERLIN (World Digital Support) and WIN, the world association of independent music companies.
to represent Belgian independent music companies and to promote their cultural diversity;
- - to stimulate the production and distribution of sound recordings and musical artists;
- - to defend the interests of the sector as well as the support structures for artists in the contemporary music sector;
- - to support financial structures for independent music companies and their artists;
- - to function as a network between members and national and international associations.
This will be done by supporting the structures of the members of the association and by trying to improve the conditions in which they carry out their activity, always with a view to the optimal valorisation of the productions financed in Belgium. BIMA will try to react in a representative way to current events and urgent problems affecting artists and their representatives.
